Per officials, the Christian County Health Department will begin offering the Pfizer vaccine beginning Tuesday, adding to currently available Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots.
Pfizer was given approval by the Food and Drug Administration last week, becoming the first such COVID-19 vaccine to earn the trusted mark.
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., the Christian County Health Department administers vaccines, and its officials are encouraging those unvaccinated to do so as soon as possible and if able. Walk-ins are welcome.
As of Sunday, August 29, only 25.08% of the Christian County population were fully vaccinated. Only Spencer County, at 24.70%, is lower. However, Fort Campbell soldiers and their families who live in Christian County do not count toward county rates in Center for Disease Control data, and Fort Campbell uses a different federal database. Fort Campbell officials have noted that they have an 80% vaccination rate on post.
