Just in time for the United Way of the Pennyrile annual fundraising campaign kickoff, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Imagination Library will be hosting a family scavenger hunt at 10 in the morning, Saturday, September 18 beginning at the library located on 1101 Bethel Street.
Following a $20 registration fee per family, participants must pre-register online or at the library, with all proceeds benefiting a charitable organization that began through the efforts of longtime, legendary country singer Dolly Parton.
DeeAnna Sova, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library’s executive director, said the family-friendly event will be suitable for kids and adults of all ages, while helping provide financial assistance to a good cause.
The Imagination Library provides free monthly books worldwide to children from birth to 5 years of age — through Parton and local community partners in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
But locally, it’s a service that currently assists more than 3,400 kids alone in Christian County — and could assist more through a financial donation.
The scavenger hunt will take participants all through Christian County, allowing families to spend time together, have fun, and support the continued growth of the local Imagination Library.
The only requirement for a child to receive books through this organization is for the child to live in Christian County.
Participants can pre-register online at https://hopkinsvillechristian-county-imagination-library.square.site or at the library.
