Fall Road Work On I-24

Several road projects on Interstate 24 could slow commutes and travel starting next week. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District One Spokesman Keith Todd says three projects will be going on simultaneously.

In Caldwell and Trigg Counties, from the 55 to 65 mile markers work will be restricting the area to 2-lane traffic to allow full-depth concrete reconstruction along in the westbound lanes. The maximum load width on this stretch will be 15 feet. Work is expected to continue through mid-December.

In Christian County, from the 76 to 85 mile markers, eastbound lanes will be restricted starting Tuesday for pavement rehabilitation. Todd does not say how long the work is expected to take. Meanwhile, in McCracken and Massac counties, Illinois Department of Transportation is restricting westbound traffic to complete work near the Ohio River Bridge and expects the work to take about two months.

All work zones have a strictly enforced 55 mile per hour speed limit and Todd says there will be increased police presence in the areas.
