A Hopkinsville man charged in connection to a December 2019 wreck that claimed the lives of a Cerulean mother and her 11-year old daughter appeared for his arraignment in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.
35-year old Robert Jackson was indicted last Friday on two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. He was taken into custody over the weekend at a home on Camilla Drive.
Jackson, his defense attorney Allison Mohon and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling appeared before Circuit Judge Andrew Self. Mohon asked the judge to read the indictment and then entered a not guilty plea. Mohon also said she wanted to make the judge aware that Jackson has some health problems and needs his medication while he is incarcerated.
Judge Self said he would order the jail to provide Jackson his medications. He then set a pretrial conference for 1:00 p.m. on October 27.
Jackson’s charges are in connection to a two-vehicle wreck on December 23, 2019 in which Christian County Sheriff’s deputies said he crossed the center line on Princeton Road and hit a truck driven by 32-year old Misty Quarles of Cerulean.
Deputies said the impact caused the truck to come to rest in a creek bed. Three people were extricated from the truck and 34-year old Marcus Quarles and a juvenile were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. Jackson, Misty Quarles and her daughter, 11-year old Alexia Trump, were flown to Nashville hospitals. Misty Quarles and her daughter, Alexia, a sixth-grader at Sinking Fork Elementary School, died from their injuries while in the hospital.
Jackson remains lodged in the Christian County Jail with Mohon telling Judge Self she will be filing a bond motion soon.
