Hopkinsville City Council Ward 6 has another candidate on the ballot for 2022.
Nichelle “Niecy” Hillis, a Democrat, announced her candidacy for the primary Friday afternoon — offering the first challenge to incumbent and Republican Travis Martin for the seat in the general election.
Hillis said she’s a Hopkinsville resident of 33 years who’s been employed with the Kentucky Housing Corporation and owns 10 years of experience in the housing industry.
She believes all Hopkinsville residents deserve to have their voices heard and equally represented by leaders who will advocate for them, and she thinks her experience has her ready to serve the community in this capacity.
Candidates have until January 7 to file for the primary election.
