Elkton Man Charged After Police Pursuit

An Elkton man was charged with fleeing from police on US 68 in Todd County Monday.

Elkton Police say they were called to the area for a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road and found 58-year-old Larry Spurlin two miles from the Christian County line.

Spurlin reportedly turned around in the median and drove towards Officer Jakop Smith head-on. Police say Smith was able to avoid the collision and began pursuing Spurlin’s vehicle.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of US 68 and Tress Shop Road where Spurlin was arrested and charged with DUI, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
