The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Todd County north of Elkton early Monday and stayed on the ground for over an 8-mile stretch.
Survey teams were in Todd County Tuesday to look at the path that began at the intersection of U.S. 68 at Tress Shop Road around 4:33 am. The tornado’s path continued east across Stokes Road near the New Life Pentecostal Church and later crossed Kentucky Highway 181 between Stratton Road and Blue and Gray Road.
Surveyors said the tornado stayed just south of Clay Cole Road and ended in an area near the intersection of Pea Ridge-Sharon Grove Road and Goodman Road.
The total length of the tornado path was 8.3 miles long and 100 yards wide with estimated peak winds of 90 mph.
Meteorologist Sean Poulos says the survey teams were looking for several specific things when assessing the damage from the tornado.

They also said many large trees were uprooted or snapped and two semi-trailers were flipped over.
