Christian County Schools to Remain Closed Tuesday

Christian County Schools will remain closed Tuesday and all but Pembroke Elementary and Crofton Elementary will return to classes on Wednesday.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel said the additional day off from classes will allow for all roads to be safe for travel, additional power to be restored to the community, and the schools’ operational plans to be in place.

He went on to say the district plans to reopen all schools on Wednesday, with the exception of Pembroke and Crofton Elementary schools. Pembroke will remain closed for storm-related repairs. Crofton Elementary will open once power is restored to the building.

Staff will be expected to report to their respective schools on Tuesday.

Bentzel said Pembroke Elementary School suffered structural damage that will cause it to be closed until January when students return from Christmas break.

Bentzel said about two-dozen staff members and students had their homes damaged or destroyed in the storms.
