The storm survey team with the National Weather Service says the portion of the long-track tornado from Fulton County through Muhlenberg County in western Kentucky was an EF-4 with peak winds of 190 mph.
According to surveyors, preliminary data determined the EF-4 tornado touched down 5.5 miles southwest of Cayce at 8:56 Friday night. The path of the tornado was 128 miles with a maximum width of one mile or more and traveled through Caldwell County and Dawson Springs, ending 7.5 miles northeast of Breman at 11:10 Friday night.
The tornado caused significant damage and destruction along its path with four fatalities, and eleven injuries, three seriously, in Caldwell County.
