United Way of the Pennyrile Presented Check from Hoptown Half Marathon

The United Way of the Pennyrile was presented with a check Thursday totaling $13,250 from the proceeds of the 2021 Hoptown Half Marathon and 5K.

The United Way of the Pennyrile partners with agencies to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities throughout the Pennyrile.

During the 2021 race, local organizations participated in the water station spirit competition. Taking home first place and receiving $500 was Planters Bank. Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club placed second and received $250. There was a two-way tie between Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority and Memorial Baptist Church.

The 4th Annual Hoptown Half Marathon will take place in Downtown Hopkinsville on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022. Race Director Korey Nunley expects the 2022 race to be a breakout year for the event as it continues to grow in popularity.

Registration is now open for the race. The half marathon costs $59 to register and the 5K is $35.00. Registration costs will go up on January 1.

Next year’s race beneficiary is the Military Affairs Committee, a committee focused on making Christian County the best place for military families to live, work, shop, and enjoy.
