After three years and $16.3 million spent, the Trigg County Primary and Intermediate School project is nearing completion and community members had the opportunity to tour the school Monday.
Before giving tours of the building, Trigg County Public Schools Superintendent Bill Thorpe told community members on hand, he was proud of the work done.
Trigg County Primary School Principal Lindsey Kinslow thanked the school board for all of the work they did to help with the project.
Kinslow added she’s excited to be able to fully use the building and took a moment to praise new safety features.
Trigg County Intermediate School Principal Brian Futrell compared the project to that of a whole home renovation.
Futrell added the new primary/intermediate school gymnasium has been utilized a lot over the past school year.
The former gymnasium has now been turned into two levels of classrooms.
The school now has numerous safety features, including the need for key cards across the entire building, and pods for each grade to keep cross-school traffic down during the school day.
The Trigg County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting for the renovated school building. Cadiz Mayor Todd King also presented a key to the city to Kinslow, Futrell, and Director of Operations Matt Ladd for all of the work they did during the renovation.
The renovation was supervised by Sherman, Carter, Barnhart Architects.
