Felts Sworn Back In For Cadiz Police Department

Officer Michael Felts is no stranger to the Cadiz Police Department.

And so that made his decision all the more comfortable, when — Tuesday morning in Mayor Todd King’s office — he was sworn back in under Chief of Police Duncan Wiggins, set to report immediately to his post.

Already a retiree from the Hopkinsville Police Department, Felts was recently working for the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office before opting in on a familiar job.

Felts said there was absolutely nothing of concern to note in this change in office, adding his experience within the sheriff’s office was enjoyable and a great time.

But his kids, which are homeschooling, aren’t getting any younger — and the ability to keep working while staying closer to his family became more paramount with each passing day.

Wiggins has worked for the City of Cadiz and its police department since 1994, and has seen more than 40 officers come and go in the last three decades.

To return isn’t common, but to do so is welcome — especially in Felts’ case.

Often dispatched simultaneously to calls for service, the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department and Cadiz Police Department also help each organization provide extra coverage when multiple incidents occur at the same time.

Having worked in both offices now, Felts’ knowledge could be a boon for the city. And no matter what, he just wanted to stay working for Trigg County.
