The National Weather Service has placed the southern Pennyrile under a Winter Weather Advisory until 9:00 Sunday night, with a wintry mix of precipitation in the forecast for the remainder of the day.
The National Weather Service says a mix of precipitation is expected to fall through the remainder of the day into the evening hours. Snow accumulations up to an inch are possible along the Kentucky-Tennessee border. Ice accumulation is possible in Calloway and Graves Counties.
The precipitation could result in slippery road conditions, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. With temperatures at or slightly below freezing through the day and the rapid movement of this winter system, minor snow accumulations will develop during the afternoon and evening hours. Any roads or sidewalks still wet by sunset will likely freeze. Use caution when driving or walking during the afternoon and evening hours.
