Bitter Cold and Snow Likely Thursday

The first full week of January is trying to pack in a full month of weather into a short amount of time.

After a Saturday tornado in Christian County and Sunday snow in western Kentucky, the National Weather Service says more snow and much colder weather can be expected later this week.

Christine Wielgos, the lead weather forecaster at the Paducah weather service office, says Thursday temperatures will likely stay below freezing.

click to download audioWielgos says it’s too early to tell if January will be a repeat of December, which was the warmest on record at the Paducah office since weather records began in 1937. The average temperature last month was 50.1 degrees, beating the old mark of 48.9 degrees in 2015.
