The Trigg County Clerk’s Office reported one new entry came Friday, in the race for 2022 magistrates.
William G. Linton filed as a Democrat in District 3, and at this time would run unopposed in his primary.
Incumbent District 3 magistrate and Republican Cameron Sumner filed for re-election in the first week of January, and currently is unopposed in his primary.
Linton is the husband of Kimberly Boyd-Linton, who had originally filed for the Democratic primary and District 3 seat before promptly withdrawing.
Those interested in partisan races originally had until January 7 to file, but the contentious discussion of redistricting has delayed that deadline for at least these last two weeks — and potentially longer.
