The Christian County High School Jazz Band will host a community performance as a send-off for the student musicians Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., at the Alhambra Theatre in downtown Hopkinsville.
The Colonels were selected to attend the Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference that will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville later this week. The Colonels are the only high school jazz band selected through a state-wide audition process to perform at the conference.
Christian County High Band Director Anthony Darnall said the students have worked hard for this recognition and deserve a celebration.
The community performance will feature guest soloists Dr. Todd Hill., the director of Jazz Studies at Murray
State University, and Dr. Derek Johns, the director of bands at Bethel University.
At the state conference in Louisville this week, the jazz band will be joined by world-renowned trombone soloist,
Harry Watters.
The cost to attend the send-off concert at the Alhambra is $5 per person.
