A traffic stop on Cerulean Hopkinsville Road in Trigg County led to a foot pursuit and drug charges for two Cadiz men Saturday night.
Trigg County Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Hicks says 36-year-old Brandon Linton and 37-year-old Michael Overbaugh were seen driving at a high rate of speed and recklessly on icy roadways and were stopped as they pulled their vehicles into a driveway on Cerulean Hopkinsville Road.
Overbaugh reportedly attempted to drive away as Linton was being arrested and got his vehicle stuck in the front yard of the home. Hicks says Overbaugh fled on foot falling six feet into a creek before he was tased and taken into custody.
A large amount of meth was reportedly found in both vehicles along with a digital scale, a glass pipe, syringes, LSD, synthetic marijuana, an unknown pill, along with several items consistent with trafficking drugs were found in Overbaugh’s vehicle.
Neither of the men had insurance for their vehicles and Overbaugh had an expired driver’s license. During the foot pursuit with Overbaugh, Hicks says he injured his ankle, and Overbaugh injured his knee.
They were both arrested and charged with trafficking meth, reckless driving, and failure to maintain required insurance. Overbaugh was also charged with resisting arrest, possession of LSD, trafficking in synthetic drugs, tampering with physical evidence, and first and second-degree fleeing or evading police.
