One section of dangerous, narrow roadway in Trigg County could soon be addressed.
During Monday’s Trigg County Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates and Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander heard the first reading of an ordinance that would reduce the speed limit of nearly 1.8 miles of Old Hopkinsville Road from 55 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour.
The section in question spans from Oliver Road to KY 1585, better known as North Montgomery Road, and is an old chip-and-seal strip that has seen its fair share of trouble of high traffic and high rates of speed.
Magistrate Alana Baker-Dunn said she’s heard from several of her constituents about this area.
Magistrate Cameron Sumner added traveling that road, and at that rate of speed, can be dangerous.
The ordinance will receive its second reading on May 2.
