Authorities have identified a man that was found deceased in the roadway on US 79 in Todd County Wednesday morning.
Kentucky State Police say 31-year-old Venancio Jimenez-Alvarez was walking in the 9000 block of US 79 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the area before law enforcement arrived.
He had no identifying information on him at the time of the crash.
Authorities were called to the area after his body was found in the roadway around 1 am.
Police say it is possible the collision may have been weather-related due to the dense fog, the driver may have believed they struck an animal such as a deer in the roadway.
Kentucky State Police say they are being assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations out of Louisville.
