Man Charged With Possession Of Drugs After Hopkinsville Traffic Stop

A Nashville man was charged with possession of drugs and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a traffic stop on Woodmill Road in Hopkinsville Thursday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 38-year-old Larry Day for improper turn signal and during the stop, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Day reportedly admitted to drugs being in the vehicle along with a firearm in the trunk that he claimed he was transporting to his dad.

After a search of the vehicle, police say cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, and a scale were found.

While waiting for his dad to pick up his vehicle, police say Day’s dad asked him on the phone why he had a gun and he stated because it’s Hopkinsville and people are always shooting each other.

Day was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to or improper signal, possession of cocaine, marijuana, and Xanax.
