Trigg Jobless Rate Drops In February

Trigg County’s civilian labor force has grown by less than one percent over the past two years with the jobless rate dropping in February when compared to the same two months in 2021 and 2020.

Numbers released by the Kentucky Center for Statistics showed Trigg County with a 4.6-percent unemployment rate in February, compared to the four-percent statewide rate and the 4.7-percent rate in the Pennyrile region.

The estimates showed Trigg County with a civilian labor force of 6,120 people in February, which is an increase of just 50 people from February 2020 — the month before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

There were 279 people actively seeking work in Trigg County in February compared to 328 in the same month two years ago.

The jobless rate in both February 2020 and February 2021 was 5.4-percent.

Trigg County’s February unemployment rate was the fourth-lowest in the Pennyrile and ranked 44th out of 120 Kentucky counties.
