Knoth Officially Sworn-In As 56th Judicial District Judge

Recently appointed 56th District Court judge Brandon Knoth was officially sworn in before a packed circuit courtroom at the Caldwell County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon.

Knoth was appointed by Governor Andy Beshear following the primary election to fill the vacant seat created when 56th District Court Judge Jamus Redd was appointed as the 56th Circuit judge to replace Woody Woodall, III who recently retired.

Judge Woodall welcomed those on hand and said he was happy and proud to be involved in introducing a new judge to the bench in the 56th Judicial Circuit.

After being sworn in by Judge Redd, Knoth thanked Judges Woodall and Redd and said he is starting his 20th year of law practice and this milestone has been 45 years in the making.

click to download audioKnoth said the last six months have been a little bit challenging in his personal life which he noted could sometimes also affect your professional life. He noted next week marks the six-month anniversary of the tornado and he doesn’t think you can experience something like that and not be affected by it. But he added by going through this process he found a new perspective on what really matters in life.

click to download audioKentucky Supreme Court Justice Shea Nichol along with Christian County Family Court Judge Jason Fleming, Christian County District Judge J. Foster Cotthoff, and 56th District Court Judges Natalie White and Chappel Wilson were also on hand at the swearing-in ceremony to show their support for Knoth’s new role.

Knoth will again appear on the ballot in the November general election in the race for the same district judge position but for a four-year term. He will face Matt Schalk, who finished second to Knoth in the primary election by over 2,300 votes.

The 56th Judicial Circuit serves the counties of Caldwell, Trigg, Livingston, and Lyon.
