Several children and young people were joined by family, friends, and volunteers during the twentieth annual Take Kids Fishing event at West Cadiz Park Saturday morning. Charles Turner with the Pennyrile R. C. and D. says it was great to see families come out to celebrate time together in the outdoors.
Cadiz Main Street Director Ryan Clark says he was pleased with the number of children and families that came out.
Being his first event, Clark says it seemed to be a wonderful time for all who participated.
In celebration of the twentieth annual Take Kid’s Fishing Day, Turner remembers the origin of the event.
A number of door prizes were given out during the event, and youth were recognized in three categories for the largest fish, the most fish, and the smallest fish. Bicycles were awarded to youth in each division who had the longest cast and the fastest reel time. All those who participated received a t-shirt, hot dogs, and drinks cooked by the Atmos Energy crew.
