A wreck on Interstate 24 near the Pennyrile Parkway exit led to drug charges for a Hopkinsville man Monday night.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called for Timothy Gibbs who had struck a guardrail and had a band around his arm.
After a search of his vehicle, a bag containing several pills believed to be Xanax, Xtampza, and Oxycontin was reportedly found.
Police say Gibbs admitted to taking Oxycontin before the wreck and said he did not have a prescription for the drugs.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), a prescription drug not in a proper container, and DUI.
