A Christian County native has been named the superintendent of the Muhlenberg County School System.
Contessa Orr was approved Monday night at a special called meeting and will assume her new duties on July 1. She replaces the retiring Robby Davis.
Orr is a Christian County High School graduate who began her teaching career in the Todd County School System as a special education teacher 22 years ago. She went on to serve as the assistant principal and guidance counselor of Olmstead Elementary School, principal of North Todd Elementary School, and director of federal programs for Todd County Schools. She also served most recently as the chief academic officer of Logan County Schools.
Orr and her husband Chris have two children — Aaron and Abigail.
