Morning Storms Topple Trees and Signs, Bring Needed Rain (w/PHOTOS)

Thunderstorms that moved through the area Friday morning toppled trees and signs and caused a power outage to over 2,500 customers in Trigg, Christian, and Todd counties.  They also brought up to an inch of much-needed rain.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning just after 8 o’clock as a storm system moved through from the north, bringing with it peak wind gusts between 50 and 56 miles per hour in Christian and Todd counties and nearly 40 miles per hour in Trigg County.

Numerous trees and power lines were reported down and across roads with a couple of businesses on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville receiving considerable damage.

Pennyrile Electric reported over 2,500 customers were without power across its service area. Over 900 people were without power east of Hopkinsville with large outages reported near Oak Grove in southern Christian County and Allegre in Todd County.
