The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for western Kentucky that will take effect Saturday morning and continue through Sunday evening.
Temperatures near 100 degrees with a heat index near 107 degrees are expected through the weekend.
Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says the hot weather will continue Friday into Saturday.
click to download audioIf you look at past history, Powell says Saturday’s date has historically generated some of the hottest temperatures recorded. In 1901, Hopkinsville recorded record highs of 109 degrees on both July 22 and July 23 according to the National Weather Service.
