The 13th Annual Butterfly Festival will return Saturday, September 3 to Oak Grove, according to Oak Grove Tourism Executive Director Traci Cunningham.
The award-winning festival will feature an interactive butterfly house provided by the Milkweed and Honey Farm, where visitors will be able to see cocoons, caterpillars, and butterflies in action.
In the afternoon, 1800 Monarch butterflies will be released as they begin their annual migration to the fir tree forests of Mexico.
The event will also feature an educational NASA-themed show, a zip-line, and other various activities.
The Butterfly Festival is completely free, including admission and parking.
The festival will take place from 11am-4pm at the War Memorial Walking Trail at 101 Walter Garrett Lane. The butterflies will be released at 4pm on the Viceroy berm.
