The Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission has announced its 2022 Unity Breakfast will be held on Thursday, October 27.
The Unity Breakfast is held in October of each year in conjunction with the annual Human Rights Week. The theme of this year’s breakfast is “Light Up the World With Kindness”, with Lt. Lindsey Galabeas as the keynote speaker. Galabeas and her husband Lt. Roger Galabeas, have been serving as the commanding officers and administrators of The Salvation Army in Hopkinsville since June of last year.
Tickets for a table of eight are available for $160 at the Municipal Center in the Human Rights Commission Office or from any Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission member. Individual tickets are available for $20.
A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $30 each.
The Human Rights Commission also announced they are taking nominations for its annual awards presented to the community.

The Hal and Bettye Thurmond Award is to be given to a member, group, or organization in Hopkinsville-Christian County who is making a difference to improve the community through their dedication to human relations.
The Mayor’s Unity Award is to be given to a citizen, group, or organization within the city limits that make deliberate, conscious efforts to unite people and work together to better the community.
The Judge’s Unity Award, given to a citizen, group, or organization within Christian County but outside the Hopkinsville city limits that makes deliberate, conscious efforts to unite people and work together to better the community.
The Standard Award for Excellence is open to individuals within Hopkinsville-Christian County for their outstanding service and devotion that goes above and beyond the call of duty in their profession to better the community.
The Volunteer of the Year Award is open to a member, group, or organization in Hopkinsville-Christian County for their outstanding service and going above and beyond to positively impact the agency they serve or the community at large.
The Human Rights Commission will accept the award nomination forms until September 23. They can be downloaded from the Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission website: www.hoptown.org/hrc.
The October 27 Unity Breakfast will be held at the Bruce Convention Center.
