There is still time to sign up for the Out of the Darkness Walk to raise awareness about suicide prevention. The walk start Sunday, September 18, at 2:00 pm at the Pardue Lane Trailhead of the Hopkinsville Greenway. Event Co-Coordinator, Mary Underwood says suicide touchs many families.
She adds the decision is to take your own life is preventable.
The local walk started a couple years ago after Valerie Singleton reached out to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Underwood says they have 24 sponsors for the event and $2,500 in silent auction items already collected. Anyone interested in sponsoring or donating items, contact Underwood and Singleton at 270-889-5576.
