Executive Director Amanda Davenport of the Lake Barkley Partnership says she is excited to share that the Eddyville Riverport received a $4.9 million grant for an expansion of operations to handle additional freight cargo and increases the capacity at the port.
U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that the Department of Transportation will provide funding to the Eddyville Riverport and Industrial Development Authority through the Port Infrastructure Development Program.
McConnell’s office indicates the Eddyville Riverport plans to use these funds to construct an inlet adjacent to its existing port on the Cumberland River to expand the port’s ability to process dry bulk commodities and increase the efficiency of the port’s operations. This will give the Eddyville Riverport greater capacity to service local industries, encouraging economic development in the area.
Davenport says that economic development doesn’t happen without one big team all working together to achieve a common goal. She says they are thankful to their team and all of the hard work. Davenport thanked the Eddyville Riverport Board, Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc./Marcum Engineering, LLC, the Beckett Group, and Ann Schneider & Associates. She also thanked Senator McConnell for his support for this grant and for funding through the Infrastructure and Jobs Act.
