Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced Monday that Christian County is one of 12 randomly selected counties that will undergo a 2022 post-general election audit.

In addition to Christian County, the other counties chosen for the audit to be conducted by the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations are Jefferson, Webster, Shelby, Rowan, Oldham, Laurel, LaRue, Owen, Anderson, Daviess, and Breathitt counties.

The audits are mandated by law to determine if any irregularities took place during the 2022 general election.

Kentucky law prohibits counties from being audited in two consecutive elections. After completing independent investigations in each of the twelve counties, the Attorney General’s Office of Special Prosecutions will present its findings to the grand jury and chief circuit judge of each audited county.
