According to state police, officers with USDA Forest Service found various images of suspected child pornography near the eastern shore of LBL on Tuesday. State Police were notified and responded to the scene to investigate.

After several hours of searching, multiple images of child pornography, electronic devices, and other items were located by troopers

Kentucky State Police detectives began investigating the origin of the items which led them to a residence in Benton.

On Wednesday, state police detectives interviewed 58-year-old Monte L. Beasley, who was subsequently charged with possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and tampering with physical evidence.

During their investigation, detectives learned the Mayfield Police Department was investigating a similar incident in which images of child pornography were located in an abandoned residence earlier in the week. Detectives determined that those images were found in a home that had been damaged in the December tornado that was previously occupied by Beasley.

Investigators with the Mayfield Police Department and state police are continuing to investigate and expect future charges.

Beasley was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
