Following two decades on the Cadiz City Council, Frankie Phillips bid farewell during last Thursday’s meeting — taking in warm thanks for his years of service from Mayor Todd King and the rest of the members.
Always to the point, Phillips said he just wanted to have helped over the years.
Brenda Price, now on to her second term with the council, called Phillips someone she could trust and respect.
Of anyone on Cadiz City Council, Bob Noel and Susan Bryant have served with Phillips the longest. Both said they appreciated his toiling efforts.
Council woman Susie Hendricks lauded Phillips’ knowledge over the years.
Another long-time councilman, Brian Futrell, alongside outgoing City Clerk Barbie Johnson celebrated Phillips’ memory.
Phillips narrowly lost another re-election this past November, with Tim Bridges becoming the newest face to the city’s panel.
He was first elected to the city council in 2002 under former Mayor Lyn Bailey.
Asked if he would ever run for city council again, Phillips simply said he “didn’t think” he would, and that he’d done all he can do with his time — which can now shift more toward family and friends.
