A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hopkinsville for 82-year-old Mary Lucille "Mary Lu" Miller Dempsey of Shelbyville and formerly of Hopkinsville.
Webb Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of the arrangements.
Dempsey was recognized by the Kentucky Press Association for her writing on women's issues as the women's editor for the Kentucky New Era.
