For more than 30 years, Chip Polston has been bringing the news and excitement always surrounding the Kentucky Lottery.
Now, he’s off to new — but familiar — endeavors, still deeply entrenched in the Commonwealth’s riches.
This past weekend, Polston debuted as the new host for KET’s “Kentucky Life” — a popular news and entertainment show, running strong into its 28th year.
In a conversation with the Edge Media Group last week, Polston about the chance to jump from the lottery to his new winning ticket.
Founded in 1995, its mission is to help Kentuckians celebrate unique cultures and characters of the Bluegrass State.
A year after its founding, it became KET’s most-watched local production.
Polston is just fourth-ever host for the program, following in the footsteps of former Major League Baseball player and Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Doug Flynn, nine-time Emmy-nominated Dave Shuffett and inaugural voice Byron Crawford.
And he said this season will bring a number of terrific stories to tell.
Polston did mention that one story he’d very much like to do at some point would involve a deeper look at WKDZ’s D.J. Everett III Radio Room & Museum — home to News Edge CEO & President Beth Mann’s wide-spanning collection of turndials.
Each new episode of KET’s “Kentucky Life” airs at 7 PM Saturdays, can be viewed again at 7 PM Mondays on KET2, and are also streamed and available online at KET.org/KentuckyLife.
