KYTC Closes Trigg County’s Jones Creek Bridge Until Further Notice

Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet ordered Thursday the immediate closure of a bridge on the Jones Creek Spur — located in extreme southwestern Trigg County near the Kentucky-Tennessee state line and the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

A routine inspection of this Jones Creek Bridge determined there were “issues with substructure,” and the bridge will remain closed until further notice.

Jones Creek Spur connects to Rushing Creek Road in northwest Tennessee, and this bridge previously owned an 11-ton load limit.

LBL officials will post appropriate “ROAD CLOSED” signage and barricade the bridge until a repair or replacement plan can be enacted.

KTC owns authority and responsibility for inspecting all bridges on public roadways in the Commonwealth. Every bridge in the state gets a detailed inspection on a 24-month cycle, with long-span river and lake bridges treated with even more care behind annual walk-through investigations.
