December Jobless Rates Fall as Work Force Numbers Increase

Jobless rates fell in all nine Pennyrile counties in December when compared to the previous month and dropped from December of 2021. Moreover, the news was also positive as the number of people working has increased from two years ago.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics reported the Pennyrile jobless rate at 4.2-percent for December, which is a three-tenths drop from November and down two-tenths from December of 2020.

The numbers showed the nine-county district with a labor force of over 80,000 people with 3,404 actively seeking work.

The jobless rate in Trigg County for December was 4.3-percent, down three-tenths from November and two-tenths of a percent from 2021.

The report said Trigg County had a civilian labor force of 6,195 with 267 people actively seeking work. Two years ago, the civilian labor force was 6,052 with 312 people seeking work.

In Christian County, the unemployment rate was 4.5-percent, down one-tenths from 2021. The report said Christian County had a civilian labor force of 25,130 with 1,132 people actively seeking work. Two years ago, the civilian labor force was 24,589 with 1,320 people seeking work.

The December jobless rate in Caldwell County was 3.2-percent, down three-tenths from November and three-tenths from last year. The report said Caldwell County had a civilian labor force of 6,048 people with 196 people seeking work.

Two years ago, the civilian labor force was 5,722 with 256 people seeking work.

In Lyon County, the December rate was 4.1-percent, down from the November rate of 4.4-percent. The report said the county’s civilian labor force was 2,958 people with 120 seeking work.

In the Pennyrile, the rates ranged from 3.1-percent in Todd County to 5.7-percent in Muhlenberg County.
