A report of a student with a gun led to Hopkinsville High School being put on lockdown Monday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say someone told school staff about a teenager with a gun and the student fled on foot when he was confronted.
He reportedly tossed the handgun, that had been reported stolen out of Nashville, on the roof of the high school where a law enforcement K9 later located it.
The student was located and taken into custody. Police say all of the schools in town were put on lockdown temporarily but have now reopened.
An ambulance was called to the school to check out the student that had the gun and he was transported to the hospital but police say no one else was injured in the incident.
The student is being charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, possession of a handgun by a minor, receiving stolen property, first-degree terroristic threatening, and tampering with physical evidence.
