The Christian County School Board rescinded a previous vote Thursday evening to purchase weapons detection systems in three schools. It will now be put out for bid.
On Monday, during a special called meeting, the board approved to purchase of the systems from ERS Wireless, a company headquartered in Indiana.
The cost was over $809,000 and the systems would be installed in Christian County High School, Hopkinsville High School, and Gateway Academy.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel tells the News Edge the board learned the vendor they agreed to purchase from was on the state-approved list, but the system they wanted to buy was not on that list.
Bentzel says now that the board has rescinded the purchase, they will put it out for bid over the next seven days, which began Thursday night.
A special called meeting will be held Monday, February 27, to purchase the weapons detection systems. The meeting held Monday, February 13, to approve the initial purchase, was held virtually.
