While the fate of one building will return to the City of Hopkinsville, another will wait a month. At Thursday night’s City Council Committee of the Whole meeting, members voted to accept the old senior citizens/advocacy center on West 7th Street back from the Local Development Corporation at the Mayor’s request.
However, Councilman Bruce Smiley moved to delay the vote on the L&N Depot by a month.

click to download audioSmiley’s motion passed on a seven to five vote and the matter will be on the March Committee of the Whole agenda. Meanwhile, Parks and Recreation Director, Tab Brockman asked to rename the Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center.
click to download audioAlso being renamed is the Pardue Lane Park. Hopkinsville Rotary President Andrew Wilson told Council the civic organization was donating $100,000 to the all inclusive playground and asked that it be renamed the Rotary Park at Pardue Lane.
