The Hopkinsville Tigers will head into the double-elimination bracket portion of the Best of the West 7-on-7 passing tournament Saturday coming off a 1-3 day during pool play on Friday at the Stadium of Champions.
In a day that got steamier as it went along, the Tigers opened up with a game against a solid Murray team. The Tigers controlled this one from the beginning taking a 35-3 win.
Hopkinsville rebounded from that loss with a big win of their own in the second game of the day. The Tigers got their offense rolling and took a 39-9 win over James Lawson.
Traditional contender Gibson Southern was up next for the Tigers and they looked every bit the part. Gibson Southern rolled past Hopkinsville for a 39-16 win.
The Tigers closed out the pool play portion of the event by taking on Kenwood. This one went to the Knights by a final score of 34-16.
With their 1-3 record in pool play, the Tigers will now open bracket play Saturday morning at 9:00 against Warren Central. A win over the Dragons would advance Hopkinsville to face Pearl-Cohn. A loss would drop them into the consolation bracket.
