Christian County Military Affairs Committee Provides Update

The Christian County Military Affairs Committee provided an update on all they have done in the past twelve months, during the annual Eagle Ambassador Breakfast Wednesday morning.

Director Kristi Murtha said it was a busy year after a revamp of the logo and other related items.

In the coming days, the committee will release a new magazine.

Turning to measures that could benefit those in the military and their families, Murtha added they have been working with the Christian County Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee.

As for children whose parents are in the military, attending a Purple Star School is becoming more important.

Military Child Education Coalition is the national advocate for the program that supports them as they relocate to new schools due to a parent’s change in duty stations.

Murtha learned last year that none of the schools in Christian County had the program, but that has quickly changed.

She said the hope is that all schools get the program in the coming weeks and that Christian County would become the second county in the state to do that.

As for upcoming events for the committee, a ‘Hams for Heroes’ giveaway will be held Thursday, April 6th at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel.
