Beshear Reports Five Deaths Occurred Across Kentucky Friday

Governor Andy Beshear updated Kentuckians on storm damage in the commonwealth during a briefing Saturday morning.

The governor reported that five storm-related deaths occurred Friday.

click to download audioHe added the thunderstorms were followed by recorded wind gusts up to 75 mph.

click to download audioAfter Beshear issued a State of Emergency in anticipation of Friday’s storms, he said 37 counties and 11 cities have issued a written or verbal State of Emergency. He says there were some homes damaged but nothing like what the state saw in December of 2021.

click to download audioWith power outages being one of the major issues, Director Jeremy Slinker of the Kentucky Emergency Response Commission addressed some safety issues. He emphasized not to use a generator indoors and be safe, as well as stay away from downed power lines and always assume they are hot and call 911 for responders to come out and help you.
