The National Weather Service says a hard freeze is possible for western Kentucky and west Tennessee Monday night and Tuesday night with temperatures expected to drop below freezing.
These freezing conditions could be harmful to vegetation that has already activated such as strawberries and some flowers. The forecast low for Monday night is 28 degrees with overnight Tuesday dropping to 25 degrees.
While no watches or warnings have been announced for western Kentucky, the National Weather Service in Nashville issued a freeze watch for middle Tennessee for Monday night into Tuesday morning.
If Monday’s overnight temperatures drop below freezing, it will mark the first time since 2018 that the March 14th temperature has been below freezing. The record low for Tuesday was 12 degrees set in 1960.
As temperatures warm back up into the 60 on Wednesday, rain returns to the forecast Thursday and Friday with low temperatures next weekend expected to drop near freezing again.
