The trial date for a Hopkinsville man charged in the fatal shooting of Calvin Buckner in 2021 was vacated in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.
At a Wednesday afternoon pretrial conference, Judge Andrew Self heard from Leon Grimes’ attorney Ted Shouse, who said he had uncovered some “troubling” discovery evidence when he reviewed the file at Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen’s office that he wished to review in greater depth.

Another motion by Shouse to vacate the April trial date was granted by Judge Self.
Shouse then requested Grimes’ bond be reduced from $500,000 to $50,000.

Judge Self denied the request for a bond reduction and scheduled a pretrial conference for April 12.
Grimes is charged with shooting Buckner in the chest during a July 4, 2021 party on Hazel Street in Hopkinsville.
