Tree Damage And Power Outages Reported From Wednesday’s Storms

A fast-moving squall line moved through western Kentucky Wednesday afternoon and caused several trees to be blown down and across power lines.

Trigg County Emergency Management Director David Bryant said crews were busy removing several trees blown across some state highways.

click to download audioA tornado was reported on the ground near Golden Pond in Land Between the Lakes around 2 o’clock but Bryant said that appeared to be a miscommunication and he could find no damage in the area.

The storm did knock out power to most of Cadiz for several hours, however, it was restored shortly after 4 o’clock.

In Marshall County, there were reports of trees on homes in Calvert City but no injuries were reported. Some tree damage was also reported in north Murray and near Aurora.

The Kentucky Mesonet reported a wind gust of 58 mph in Calloway County and one at 52 mph in Trigg County.
