Carolyn was the daughter of the late Wesley Leavell, Jr. and Virginia Arkins, raised by the late Mary Frances Loving. She was born on September 15, 1953, in Chrisitan County.
She was a member of the Durrett Avenue Baptist Church, was baptized by Rev. D. W. Roberts, and worked in Production at TRAD.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Terrill “OL SKOOL” Moore; Grandmother, Lelia Mae Holiday; Siblings, Deborah Joyce Coleman, Ethelene Kates Parker, Frances Ann Kates, Vesicelia Coleman, George Loving, Jr., and Anthony (Kamkrona) Loving
Survivors include her husband, James Ellis Kates, Sr.; Daughters, Cyrena (Joseph) Martin, and Angelique (Walter) Victor; Sons, James Ellis Kates, Jr., Demond (Shaunta) Kates; Siblings, Jennifer Hadley Quarles, Velma Loving Rainey, Delma Loving, Donna Loving, Felicia Loving, Sarah Loving, Peggie Loving, Janette (the late Lloyd) Jones, Otho Lynn Kates; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Durrett Avenue Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will be Monday at 10:00 at the church.
