Three weeks after a bond reduction was denied, a Fort Campbell soldier saw a new motion granted Wednesday during action in Christian County Circuit Court.
22-year-old Alexander Heck is charged with the death of a 15-month-old child on March 1. Police said the child, who was not related to Heck, died of blunt force trauma.
A March 22 bond reduction request was denied by Judge Andrew Self. However, on Wednesday Heck’s commanding officer at Fort Campbell testified the defendant was a “high-performance soldier” who is in charge of training his troop in how to properly prepare vehicles for transport by helicopters.
As he did last month, Heck’s attorney Michael Thompson again asked Judge Self to reduce Heck’s bond.

Thompson said the child’s mother was living with Heck and his wife at the time of the child’s death. Thompson said it was Heck who found the child unresponsive and called for help. Bolen said last month that Heck was the only adult in the home when the child was found unresponsive.
Heck is scheduled to appear in court again on May 10.
