Denny died peacefully on April 6, 2023.
Throughout her life, Sharon had a deep commitment to serving others. She worked for W.I.C., where she provided assistance to families in need in Lake County, and she volunteered at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Glenview, where she helped to operate their food bank. As Director of Consumer Information for the American Dietetic Association, she devoted herself professionally to health education.
Beyond her work, Sharon had many passions. She loved spending time in nature, using her green thumb to grow an impressive garden and her talent as a photographer to capture the beauty around her. She was an avid fan of Scotty dogs and enjoyed traveling to new places. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother and was deeply involved in her family’s lives. Her Christmas cookies were legendary, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat, in 1994 and her parents Howard and Mae Carpenter.
